Parents and care giver should always be on the lookout for natural teachable moments that are unplanned and child directed :)
Teachable moments extend and provide opportunities for learning.
Dramatic play is filled with teachable moments. (I.e., playing veterinarian with medical kit and stuffed animals)
Observe and look for cues from the children dictating that they are curious and want to learn more.
Watch, build and listen to build upon what the children are doing.
Ask what the children are doing and ask open ended questions.
Keep age appropriate.
Take the child's direction to keep appropriate by asking them what they think.
Listening is key! Answering what they are asking is key as well!
Recognize what positive learning experiences are - those naturally occuring experiences every day
